DS3 problem.....and max safe temp for Core 2

Hey guys, i have a new Core 2 Duo setup with a Gigabyte DS3, E6300, and 2x512mb Corsair Twin2X DDR2 675.

The CPU is currently running at 2.8Ghz (400FSB) on stock voltages..dual priming makes the CPU temp go up to around 60 degrees C. Is this ok? (using stock cooler)

Also is it ok that my ram is running at 800Mhz now instead of the factory 675?

Also, everytime i reboot the computer nothing shows on the screen when restarting...i have to manually turn it off and on again. What is with this?

Btw im using my WD 200Gb HDD on the master IDE and DVD-RW on Slave on the same IDE channel as i dont yet have a SATA HDD.

Thats pretty hot for a 65nm processor, you shouldn't be going above 55C or so if you intend to keep the processor for more than a year. I would recommend an aftermarket cooler if you are staying at that clock.

As for the ram if your system is stable and memtest shows no errors then you should be fine.

As for the restarting screen blank thing, this is a known issue with ATI drivers, though it may or may not be the cause in your case as your description is a bit different. (ATI drivers are notorious for dropping signal on the boot screens during boot)
 
My cpu at idle is 39-40c and at load it is 44c.It doesnt really make that much differnce on load , but that said i have only overclcocked my E6300 to 2.76ghzand used a freezer 7 pro.
 
hmm my cpu goes up to 48 degrees at one hour cpuprime. I have the E6700 with a Zalman 9500. Shouldn't I be getting better results? I have done no overclocking so far.
 
I am using 6600 and the idle System's Temperature is 30C and Under full LOAD it never go beyond 45C , Even tho my system case is kinda old moderate Air Flow . I am using this processor with INTEL stocked HSF BUT i m using ARTIC SILVER 5 instead of Intels Original Thermal Paste, and its doing a great job of keeping Temp down . Even tho its Overclocked. on Gigabyte Ga-965-DS3.

The real problem Lies in Intels Thermal Paste that comes on they HSF. Buy ARTIC SILVER 5 for $6 and ull see a difference : :p

I am using 6600 and the idle System's Temperature is 30C and Under full LOAD it never go beyond 45C , Even tho my system case is kinda old moderate Air Flow . That's because you haven't broken 450FSB MCRAYGSX. ;)

You're temps will jump when you reach that point, but I'm sure Conroe can handle 60-70 load.

I do want to note that my superPI times seem a tad slow on the DS3. Not sure if it's just the 965 or the mobo, but I'm stuck at 19sec for 1M. =P However, when I do render benchmarks, I'm just a tad behind dual opteron 265 on my 6300 @ 3.00ghz.

You are behind in SuperPI probably because of only 2MB of L2 Cache. The crazy low times are with 4MB Conroes not the Allendales. And besides, SuperPi is not a good way to gage real world performance.

mayakindaguy even at 400FSB my TEMP never rise above 57c while running 2x copies of PRIME95 (99% usage), Bcuz of my current Rams speed I cant achieve great FSB then that.
 
not 100% sure if its seated correctly...the bottom two pins locked in with a chink noise, but with the top two i didnt get that click noise, but i pushed really really hard....so im guessing it went on but just didnt make a click noise

As for themral paste, ive ran out of my AS5....one question if i wanna remove the Intel HSF do i have to also remove the motherboard from the case ? (im asking as it clips in with those hooks that u have to remove from the back, the spear shaped ones)

Right now im idling at around 35C

Yep i do agree with you , most of the times the reasons for this is you will notice that when overclocking a CPU most of the people will increase the FSB by quite a bit and overclock there CPU by another 500mhz with out even increasing your Vcore.


Check the average Vcore of your cpu with other people and put it to that , you will see it will go down. There is access voltage there which your BIOS has it as and usually it is a tad higher so it doesnt lack current, this is where overclocking is like tweaking the system to get best bang per current providing you do not aim to go to like 4ghz , only mild and using that access current. Instead of it being heat it can change into mhz
