It appears that the Gigabyte DS3 and DQ6 are not created equal.

Although my 1st DS3 died after a 90 minute burn in, the DS3 ability to push a week 626 E6400 appears to be better than the DQ6 i picked up from Frys this afternoon.

The DS3 was able to run stable at 430Mhz bus speed with 1.375 volts. Yet the DQ6 requires 1.385 volts to hit 400Mgz bus speed.

As a backup, I picked up a P5B Deluxe considering the 90 minute life cycle of the DS3 that I sent in for an RAM to NewEgg today.

Updating the DQ6 to the F3 bios helped, but didn't bring it within reach of the DS3. Any thoughts on this?

Ya might wanna reword your post. At first it sounds like the Dq6 did better for you yet lower down is sounds the opposite.

Ok.. I goofed up on me grammer. Thanks - I fixed the 1st post. I can post an update though.

There is a "Beta Bios" f4D floating on the net - that I found here: http://www.jzelectronic.de/jz2/index.php

Follow the links on the left side of the page: Downloads -> BIOS Then at the top of the page: Neue BIOSe von Gigabyte. There it is.

f4D brought the DQ6 on par with the DS3.

For some reason, I can't get past 380 FSB on my DS3. I'm running the F4E BIOS. Any suggestions? Specs are in the sig.

What rem are you using? I'm running the G.Skill PC6400 HZ and it ROCKS!

Thx to the folks on [H] forums for suggesting it.

Heh. My first DS3 died after a few hours. I thought I killed my E6600, too. I RMA'd it, got my new one yesterday, and BLAM! POSTage. As soon as I get my new HSF, I'll try out its overclocking capabilities. (I'm not going anywhere near Intel's HSF. Mine came with three fat strips of thermal grease on the bottom. It was so damn thick, I got temps so high I might as well not have put it on. In the 70's! The E6600 is still alive, though.)

Sounds like our boards were from the same batch, although mine lived for a whopping 90 minutes. What are you using for your HSF? I went with the Thermalright 120
