I just picked up a DS for a trip im going on with some friends. I wanted to make sure that, in order to play multiplayer locally, just with my friends, i dont need any sort of LAN set up like with a router do I? I know to play online you have to connect, but just for local multiplayer we wont need a router will we?
thanks

Only the ds's and occasionally a copy of the game for each player are required for local multiplayer.

What he said. The games will say on the back what's required. Example: Mario Kart has single card and multi-card play. Says so on the back, BUT, the single card play is usually just one or two races and doesn't offer the whole lineup of modes as it would if everybody had their own card. Mario Kart is def. a must have game for the DS.
