Guys, I've been having an issue where my laptop keeps dropping the wireless connection. Strangely though, it only drops for about 20 seconds or so then reconnects without any problems. This usually happens when I start a download or streaming videos.

The router is a Netgear WGR614 I believe. Works flawlessly wired and never skips a beat.

What am I looking for? I don't know where to start since I'm not very prolific with wireless. I thought it might have been my wireless phone, but it's in another room. Nowhere close to the router.

General settings:
- TKIP WPA
- Channel 11
- 3945ABG Wireless card (built-in Pavillon 8320ca HP laptop)
- Wireless phone is in another room, I don't think it's an interference problem
- Signal strength is excellent
- Laptop running Windows Vista Ultimate 32bit
- Laptop is less than 10 feet from router.

Try setting the router to a different channel. Try a few different channels and see which works best for you.
Is the wireless phone a 2.4ghz? That might be a problem, but from what I've seen at a friends' house is the phone is usually what suffers from the interference, not the router. Still might be worth looking into.

The phone is in fact a 2.4ghz but disconnecting it did not seem to show any improvements. I'll try swapping the channel and see if it helps.
