Dropbox or Mozy

hey can i get anyones opinions on either this products and also if i store something online can i open it from another pc and upload the file onto the pc.

I use dropbox. You can download anything from your dropbox online account on any computer as far as I know. Also, as long as you have dropbox installed on a computer, it will automatically sync. I have dropbox installed on my computer and my dad's and it automatically syncs all the files.

We are using Dropbox for pretty much all the group projects I am working on for my classes. You can install the little app, or log in to the website to access it if you don't want the app. I was reluctant at first, but it is really really easy to use, literally drag and drop. The only caveat is having multiple people working on one file at the same time, each will be saving a different version which may overwrite whomever saves first's work.

If you're on Windows the new Live Mesh 2011 is pretty good with 5gb free cloud space. I use a combination of Live Mesh and Dropbox now. Live Mesh has a better folder management, but drop box is dead simple and it works well.

Mozy for automatic backups. Dropbox for file sharing across computers.

Dropbox is goodness and light. I use it daily and finally always have what I want an any of my machines and all my clients or co-workers have access to anything they need (thanks to setting up different folders to share with different folks).

...but as everyone is pointing out, Mozy and DB have different purposes. Setting up an automatic backup of everything is a good idea... and that means Mozy too.

Dropbox itself is safe, but if your computer is infected it can spread to your Dropbox folder.

They both are different and work in different ways. Mozy/Carbonite are backup solutions while Dropbox is more centered around syncing different machines and with the cloud.

With Dropbox, you dump everything you want available in a folder. Mozy/Carbonite run behind the scenes backing up everything or what you choose to their servers. You never have to see it running. With a few clicks you can restore files.

I'm really not sure why the two are mentioned in the same thread. Each have MAJOR features that the other doesn't have.
