So...anyone need a kidney or a lung? I also have a fairly healthy liver if anyone needs part of it.

I took a look at those as soon as they were announced... insane the amount of power they are packing in there...

At least they are willing to throw in some free shipping. ;)

Damn straight. I paid nearly $3000 for my m1710, and Dell charged me for the shipping.

Oh well. I needed it to play World of Warcraft...until I installed Vista. Grumble grumble grumble. Now no games are playable. Time to go back to MCE2005.

I think it was the extra $14,000 that caused apple decide to give free shipping

17,000$
If you're ADC = 20% off

So, 10% is 1700 right?

So we're looking at final price of 13,600$

Madness. Absolute madness.

Of course that is the total max cost, if you drop a few of the HDD's, the 30" LCD's, the massive Vid card, and maybe 12gb of the ram off...It's still way to expensive...but EIGHT CORES!

Seems really high in price, you could get a Precision 690 for considerably less with almost the same specs, except you'd have the 5355s instead of 5365s. Still, having a box cranking out 4k a day is nice.

I really want to get one of these. With my discount, I can get a 3ghz dual quad with 4gb ram for under $5k. It is overkill for what I do, but so what! Imagine the points.

I'm putting money back for a Mac Pro to do photo editing and perhaps video work, but most likely just the former.

I don't think I'll have the kind of money they're asking for a dual quad box. Even if I get it stripped to the bone and add my own ram and hard drives, it's still too much. I think I'll end up with either a dual 2.66 or dual 3.0GHz box. Considering that Photoshop generally favors speed over number of cores, I should be ok. Of course, the dual quad has the same clock speed as the top dual core model...
