Any thoughts on this phone I don't see any threads about it so just wondering if there is something against it.
 
I like it a lot, but it's Pentile screen and non-removable battery are a couple of strikes against it.
 
I picked on over the rezound; sound is excellent; reception is fine where I live (which is a strong 4g location); battery is ok but I'm a light user; typically the screen is on for 60 minutes; maybe 10 minutes of phone calls and 20 minutes of 4g and 40 minutes of wifi; battery will be above 50% after 18 hours.

The thing is that if you use it heavily (esp with 4g) it won't last more than 3 hours and change. Screen is fine (for me) very visible outside; no complaints - does have a slight blue tint when viewed from an angle.

camera is ok; not as good as a mid-range p&s but whatever .

last major phone with a locked boot-loader (now that htc has unlocked the rezound).

Hum. If i could change one thing; i would give up a milli meter or two for a 2500m battery; if I could change two things - I would adjust the camera post processing - it is rather harsh on the noise reduction - maybe swap it for the galaxy s2 camera+.
 
I'm not to worried about the 4G usage as I don't live anywhere near a 4G area and will be using 3G exclusively.
 
I have always been impressed with Motorola's build quality, but their software is aweful. I don't like their motoblur UI that they slap on the Android Phones. In any case, I play with the Razr for a few minutes at a vzw store and I wasn't impressed. It was faster/smoother compared to a DroidX, but otherwise bland.
 
Well I think a rooted Razr and custom ROM can fix that issue and should play very nice with the build quality and looks of it.
 
My problems with the Razr:
-Locked bootloader
-Non-replaceable battery

I could deal with the non-replaceable battery.... except it's an LTE device. Backup batteries are nice to have for 4G (not that I've ever used mine, but WiMax isn't as power hungry).
 
Can anyone explain the difference between the XT910 and the XT 912 versions of the Razr I see there is different applications for it with rooting and etc and I'm confused about the difference.
 
The xt912 is the europen version (gsm). It has something missing on the verizon version; not 100% sure of all the differences but it supports 5ghz for wireless; while the verizon version only supports 2.4ghz (not a big deal for most people). The blur on the razr is ok for me - not nearly has harsh as it was on the droid x. In fact I findi t more useful than harmful - but if youc ant' stand it you can go with go launcher, awe or whatever you prefer. The one nice feature it has is the ability to group apps in the app tray (this is a little different than folders since it allows you to group the large list of apps). The one dislike is that the dock can only have four apps and one must be the app button (which is a bit redundant).

I'll probably stick with blur till ICS comes out than see how that influence the dock (I would like 5 or 6 things on the dock).

I personally think the thinness of the phone is a strike against it. It is uncomfortable to hold when compared to the HTC Rezound (comparably spec'd device). No removable battery. Motoblur. 3 strikes and you're out!
 
If there was a TMobile version of the Razr Maxx, then I'd be interested. It's about time they started putting larger batteries in phones without it being chunky.
 
It's OK device, thin & fast, but there are better choices out there now and even better ones coming down the pike.
 
There will always be better things comming. For me the decision was to switch to verizion during the 4GB@30 promotion (which is now over). In a year if sprint has their network in shape I might switch back to sprint and the galaxy s3 (no clue if sprint network pr will become a reality). Of the three carriers (at&t, verizon and sprint) I find sprint the least anal and verizon and at&t equally awful. However, verizon (imho) has the best overall network (either by deisgn or luck they ended up with the best spectrum). Anyways the razr works for me - I wish the maxx had been out at the time of purchased (odd how it mirrors my wish in the above post). I've no real complaints with the phone though battery is a bit weak when during heavy usage periods.

At time of purchase the three choices were nexus rezound and razr and overall the razr was the best of those three (for me) though a *lot* of people are also happy with the nexus and rezound.

No kidding, but at the frequency Android devices are released a device that's a couple months old, such as the Razr, is somewhat dated. If I was in the market for a phone now and didn't care about it being a Nexus device I would wait a few more weeks and see if anything cool pops and/or VZ has another data deal.
