after i installed the new drive everything is showing up blue
all the folders are blue, so my music pics videos etc on the new drive.
is that b/c it's compressed or soemthing...
does it even matter?

i'm just not sure.

If you are saying that after you installed a new drive, everything is now blue. Windows XP is blue, your mouse is blue, etc, then trying checking your video cables and make sure that they are firmly plugged into the back of the computer and monitor. :D

i will agree with this. compressing a drive is not bad, i enjoy it because it gives a few "extra" gigs to put stuff on there. i only use compressing for storage, not for drives that are frequently accessed because (i believe this is correct) there is overhead and i want all the extra processing available.

edit: maybe some can correct me on this if i'm wrong? i dont claim to know everything ;) just enough to get things done.

Yep, looks like NTFS compression. I wouldn't worry about it unless you have games on there.
 
Yep, NTFS compression. You can turn off the actual compression by unchecking the "Compress this drive to save space" box at the bottom of the Properties dialog for that drive, or the colored display (that is, keep files compressed but display them in black) under Tools->Folder Options->View tab->Show Encrypted or compressed files in color.
