newbie here.
i have a dell 4550 with 845i chipset, p4 2.4, 512 ddr sdram, and a ti4200 64mb 4x card on win xp pro. i am running 45.23 drivers.
games like halo and dx2 freeze in the lowest settings until the action slows down.i know those two games have issues. i even tried sof2 and the same problem occured.
can anyone give my advice on a problem or should i just get a new card like a 9700/9800np. others have informed me it may be a driver/software problem. ive run dxdiag with no problems found.
is there some other thing i could do to check the system out for bugs.
thanks in advance.

"freeze until the action slows down". That sounds like some system lag. You could just be bogging your system down with all kinds of crap and what-not. A reformat might be an option you want to consider. As far as drivers goes. The 53.03 dets are out... If you haven't tried those, give them a chance. If all of that doesn't let your system play game comfortibly, then I would consider a new video card.

Did you overclock the video card? Some video cards (like my ti4400) can't handle a big overclock AT ALL and will completely lock up for a good 15 seconds or so, and then repeat every few minutes.
