So I got a video card as an RMA b/c the fan dies in the first one. I put it in & it ran fine the first night. Since my computer hadn't been on in awhile there were windows updates. I updated it & went to restart, the computer wouldn't boot past windows unless I selected safe mode. I decided to just reinstall windows, Finished installing everything, then downloaded the latest drivers for my video card. Install them then it when it restarts I get to the windows loading screen, then it freezes & my monitor says searching for signal. It booted to safe mode fine so I uninstalled the drivers & tried an older set, same thing. Decided to try the ones on the CD i originally got with the card, still won't boot after installing drivers. Any Ideas ?

the native resolution of the monitor is the 1400 somthing widescreen.... not sure off the top of my head. It has just been sitting at 1024*768 though after reinstalling windows ....

Actually I lied, the screens resolution is 1680*1050 (Samsung 206bw). I have an older CRT that can do high resolutions, up to 2048* something I think. I think I might just take the card / computer into work & test a few things there. I doubt it's power since I have an antec 550w psu, but I can test it once I get it into work. Any other ideas ?

I figured out what the problem was... One of the ground pins on the PCI - Molex connector was pushed out, couldn't tell till I was taking the card out. I guess the ATI drivers cause the card to pull more power, even when booting & it just died.... and I went through all that work... lol
