I thought that this AI thing was the new shader replacements in Doom3...DH is making it out to be the ability to disabled ALL optimizations...which has been shown on other sites to dramatically reduce performance, which is NOT what DH is showing...

Am I confused? Or is this just another wildly biased article from the retards at DH?

By turning off catalyst ai it will turn off both game specific optimizations, and ATi's brileaner optimizations. It doesn't turn off angle dependent af because thats part of hardware as well.

So why then is there a dramatic disparity between what other sites have shown with optimizations off and what DH is showing? Maybe the other site's registry hacking efforts didn't work?

thats just DH for ya :D, their numbers never coincide with anyone elses always in favor of one of the camps, very odd indeed...

And this is why I look forward to the day I burn in Hell. It's still a few steps up from Heaven as far as I'm concerned. Besides, that's where all the hot chicks are going.

pretty sad.

In case anyone cares, for me, DH is filed in the same mental folder as... (don't look if bad words offend you):

Tom's Hardware

Their numbers match those of B3D (with respect to Doom3) which also did an AI article with the X800XT PE at those settings. Also THG did benchmarks with AI off and on with the X700XT and many games saw negligible drops in performance (much less X800XT with its substantially higher fillrate). TweakTown also did some tests, but they only used an X800 Pro. In other words I think you're overstating things.

bah DH sucks ass....they should stop making reviews, it only hurts them in the short and long run...oh never they already fucked themselfs...... :D

I like thier forums for stuff like modded drivers, but their main articles are bad...

Did any of you read the end?
ATI have converted me, up until this driver I wanted this option, I wanted the ability to run without optimizations, to run what I felt was the better, more correct and nicer looking non optimization version. I can see though that would be detrimental to my gaming experience and so I’ll be sticking with Catalyst AI "on" in future... still nice to have the option though...

well my point was...I don't think they are actually turning of AF optimizations...I guess it's not so much DH's fault...

I'm surprised they didn't find a way to IMPROVE performance with the optimizations turned off. Then post something like "OMGWTF ATI is l33t and > nVidia l3ws3rs!!"

Oh, alright, they aren't THAT bad....

...

...well, MOST the time, anyway....

OUCH......

On a side note, glad to see ATI is listening to the users and giving the flexiblity.

that much is for certain...while I'm a bit skeptical as to whether or not this new option actually disables ALL optimizations...it's great to see ATi giving the user more options...

not as great as seeing the 6600GT whip the x700xt...but great nonetheless...;)

the funny thing is people actually still trust DH's numbers, its like when they say a person is diying they have tunnel vision, they see the light at the end of the tunnel, DON"T GO TOWARDS THE LIGHT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

People at Rage seem to defend DH as if goes down on them or something. Pretty sad to see a sentence that includes the words DriverHeaven and respectable.

LOL well its about 50/50 there, some people do some people don't. DH must "accidently" turn of 8xS aa or something lol

There are a few fairly open minded people there. Too bad none of them are mods.

i personally think tom's hardware have become a lot better with their reviews/previews/benchmarks. heh i remember when there was an article about AMD users being 'stupid' or something :s
