I have my two Seagate drives configured for AHCI. I tried booting off the SeaTools DOS CD, but it wouldn't detect my drives. Is there something available, like a UltimateBootCD or such, that would allow me to test my drives, without having to edit my options on the BIOS?

I know this is old, but they need to be in IDE mode to be seen by the diagnostic software. This problem still exists today. I have yet to find a HDD diagnostic tool that supports AHCI outside of the OS. Anyone know if any exist?

Any current linux livecd will let you do that via smartctrl.

Edit: Oops very old thread.
