Drive setup for new rig?

Looking to spend $200-$300 on hard drives for a new rig. Main specs will be:

Proc: Intel Core i5-3570K
Mobo: ASUS P8Z77-V
Video: GeForce GTX 660 Ti (some flavor, MSI probably)
OS: Windows 8 Pro

Was considering getting a SSD main drive with a mechanical secondary storage drive. Something like the SAMSUNG 840 Pro 128GB SSD for OS and a WD Caviar Black 1TB HDD for files.

Thoughts on best way to spend $200-300 on drives? Also, I've never installed a SSD as a main drive before - only had mechanical drives to date - so any linkage on tips for making a smooth install would be appreciated as well.
 
That's a good strategy. Just get any one of the good SSDs when they're on sale, then you should be able to hit $200 total for both drives w/ no problem.

As for installing, there's nothing you need to do other than follow the simple instructions.

After the install you may optionally choose to disable the hibernate function -- if you can in Windows 8 -- and trim back some of the page file size if you want to recoup some disk space. There are some instructions on how to do this online, but I'm not sure if it's the same on Windows 8 and in 7.
