I was wondering what kind of drives are in the WD MyBook's.
CC is having a 1TB on BF for $200, and if it is a decent SATA drive I was thinking I could just take it out and make it an internal.

Is this possible?

Well I would guess it's a WD drive and SATA, so yes it should work. :)

Well, you know what assuming does :)

I just thought it might be an IDE drive since it was just (afaik) USB but have no way to check except just take the one I have now out of it's casing.

I have taken apart the 500GB models and it was a SATA drive. Sorry, I don't have experience with the 1TB ones. I have not seen any IDE 1TB drives from WD, so I would think it is safe to say it's an SATA drive.

Id just like to toss my two cents in here:

The only 1Tb drives in existance are SATA. There are no drives (currently) bigger than 750 gigs for the PATA platform.

You know, I didn't even think of that. :)

I just kept thinking 500GB becuase that's what my current MyBook is, while I was asking about the 1TB. So thanks guys. That just makes that 1TB drive even better. 1TB WD drive for 2x the $$ of a current 500GB.
