Drive for Video

Think I'm going to buy a new drive for video we do. I fight and do work for an MMA promotion in the Midwest, and I got thrown in as I'm the only one who has any remote idea on how to operate a PC.

My setup is two Canon Vixia HV-40s going through HDMI to Blackmagic Design HDMI capture cards. I'm using Wirecast as a software switcher for a low res stream and writing a stream for upload.

Here is what I'd like to do:

We are going to possibly be putting together a show after the fact on local tv. I want to do at least 720p. I can figure out most of the settings there, but I need to write a 720 stream at the same time. i'm afraid that I'll essentially overload/bog down the program and kill it.

I'm also concerned with all my bus speed, etc and want to make sure I have enough space.

Board I have has SATA 6.0 speeds, but I need a hard drive recommendation in the $100 range.

Any current hard drive will be capable this.

Edit: This statement comes from recording multiple simultaneous streams of HD compressed video from a device like a HDHR Prime where multiple ~20 Mbit streams can be recorded to a single 5400 RPM drive at the same time as watching without any problems at all.

So essentially I should be able to easily write 2 files whilst it streams?

Compressed. I haven't set anything up yet, so that's going to be variable, but it'll be 720p. I can set it up pretty much however I want at this point.

you're going to need to provide some metrics and sample bitrates. if you're looking to stream and do concurrent simultaneous writes though you will either need an SSD big enough to facilitate that, or perhaps multiple drives and a controller. but without numbers, we're all just guessing here.
