So I backed it up ("raw" was 207, read 112, threshold 140) and am awaiting an advance RMA from Western Digital. Is it likely that undervolting my CPU somehow unbalanced the power distribution and caused drive failure (I'm just trying to see if I did something wrong)? Or is this just a bad drive?

PSU: PC Power and Cooling 850SSI
Drive: Western Digital 7500AAKS less than three months old

Sorry to BUMP, but I need an answer, even if it's only speculation. PSU? Undervolt on CPU? Bad luck/karma?

I'd check voltages with a multimeter. However, your power supply looks like it's a good one, so I'd imagine that you just got a bad drive. Bad drives happen, so you're probably thinking too much.

If the same thing happens with your replacement drive, then you know that something's odd.
