So I have 2 WD Black Edition 640gb drives on an intel raid Driver from my Asus Rampage x56 matx board.

I created the raid 0 using the bios under a 128k stripe.

When I go to the raid setup (crtl + i ) It says one of the drives has an error.

So I want to get my files back and i'm not sure if it's just a fluke, or I have a serious HD failure.

When I downloaded HD tune, I scanned for errors and checked the health and everything seems OK. When I click on the raid drive when I go to "My Computer" it shows the D: drive but when I 2x click it, it ask if I want to format it.

Any hope on saving the drive? Thanks!

EDIT:

I downloaded a Wester Digital program and it says both drives passed the SMART test

I can't make it out from your post, did you just create the array, or is it an array you created a while ago with data on it?

A newly created array is always empty, any data that was on the drive is as good as lost. You could try to run some serious recovery programs on the individual drives, but if they have been initialized, don't get your hopes up.

An older array with data on it can get seriously corrupted if one of the drives develops an error. Even if it is something small or temporary. A recovery program running on the array might be able to recover something, but again, don;t get your hopes up. (that's what RAID5 is for)

So I created raid 0
Formated the drives through windows (I have a SSD drive as a boot drive)
and it has been running for 8 months fine.

Then all of a suden, when I click on the drive, it says it needs to be formated and it seems as if the raid 0 bond has been broken. When I go to the Crt + I option in the bios, it says there is a drive error.

However...
When I do a smart scan, both show up fine and in good running condition
