Hey all,

I just received my 150gb raptor, but have not been able to get it going and with no DOA under my belt I am unsure if that is what I have.

I have an IC7-MAX3 with a 2.6HT, I unplugged both 120gb drives from SATA1 & 2 with 3 and 4 still plugged in, both CDROMs were unplugged as well. The machine stalls on "Detecting IDE Devices" When I unplug it and reboot it starts up. I plugged it in while I was in Windows and still nothing. You can feel the drive running, but no detection.

Does that define a DOA?

hmm, you cant even see it in manage/Disk Management?

i keep wanting to say you need to format it but that wouldnt solve the problem. im not sure what to tell ya

I can't even boot with it plugged in so I don't think Windows is seeing it either, I get no notifications of new hardware. I just called WD and they said dont ever ever ever plug a drive in while it is running and when I said that I thought SATA was hotswap she said yes, but still dont do it. I just RMA'd it, hopefully somehting is wrong and I wont come off looking like an idiot but if I can't get to the bios it is sorta hard to do anything. I have had no problems like this installing any of the other 4 sata drives I have in this machine

odd. lets see what the new drive does. if it still doesnt work then its something in your setup/configuration or bios settings
