ok this may sound weird but i want to drill a pattern of small holes in the side of my case.

its an enermax case and one side comes completely off so i want to take it off and bring it

to the garage where my dad has all the right tools for the job. the holes will be no bigger

than about the size of ur small fingers nail. i am wondering if this is safe...from my

perspective it isnt going to interfere with anything except maybe allow a little more

airflow. thanks a lot

It's perfectly safe for the computer as long as you clean off any of the metal shavings before putting the panel back on. Never drill or cut the metal while it's still attached to operating components, they hate metal shavings.

I can tell you now it won't do much in terms of cooling, most cases are designed with a wind tunnel effect in mind, i.e. in teh front out the back, the holes will kind of get rid of this but they will also let more air in/out. Net gain zero.

Since you're doing this anyway, make the holes in a cool pattern or logo or something.

Cover the outside side of the panel with masking tape so it is less likely to scrtatch if you slip.

ok cool, after talkin to my dad we thought about using a big circular type of saw that can cut one big hole..probly about 6 inches across. then going to the hardware store to find some kind of screen or grill that fits over it. i also saw a case that was the same as mine and a guy had a 120 mm fan in the side.. im wondering if i should do this but i already have 2 exhaust and 2 intake fans..will this drain power?
