i'm looking to do a few case mods, nothing major. need to cut out some holes and stuff.

what is the best dremel to get, and attachments?
 
I have a 300 series and it works awesome!
ranges 5,000 - 35,000 RPM

Never get a cordless one :rolleyes:
 
I've had great luck with my Black & Decker RT.X. Seems a little more torquey than the Dremel branded tools I've used, and it was only about $25 if I remember right.
 
Its probably more about the attachments themselves than the tools.. spend the extra bux on good cut off wheels and grinding wheels, it will make ur life much easier :) I have a craftsman rotary but I prefer to use a dewualt rotozip style rotary, construction power and tons of accesories :)
 
... not talked about but PLEASE PLEASE get a form of safety glasses.... breaking a cutting wheel at any RPM is not fun especially if it flys into your face

but yeah +1 for the 400 WIRED.... cordless dont seem to have as much power
 
dont get the 400XPR.
I have it, and mine burned out.
Apparently if you search the web, the 400XPR series has a lot of overheating problems, which causes the motor to burn up.

dremel's warranty is pretty lousy too. They charged me $42 to get mine fixed. I should have just bought another one for $100

The dremel itself looks good and those attachments are probably so so. So if you plan on doing any serious cutting (any metals, especially aluminum), you'll want to get some higher quality cut-off wheels like others have mentioned.

I purchased these, but theres 20 of them so naturally they're more expensive.

Total Agreement. The reinforced cut wheels are way better and last way longer than the heavy duty cut off wheels

just bought the 300, cut through my case like a champ. I think I had more fun making sparks, keke. Anyways definitely get some safety goggle when cutting.
