I mention this partly as info for others and partly out of frustration.

I mentioned in an earlier post that my Dremel died when I started a mod. Well, the problem turned out to be worn brushes. I replaced them and it works fine. So if your Dremel is acting up, check how long it's been since you last changed the brushes.

Now the mini-rant from frustration:

These brushes were barely worn - only about 1mm shorter than the new ones. Dremel recommends changing them every 60 hours or so. I don't know what makes then useless with so little wear, but my experience with brush-type motors in the past is that they can run well till the brushes are worn to bare metal! At $8 a pop, this gets under my skin - you get a decent tool, but the accessories are a constant drain on the wallet. Grump !

hmm, I should look into my dremel, I don't know much about it, (embarassingly) only how to use it, not how to maintain it. (slaps self in face for stupidity of not knowing these things) ... thanks for the reminder!
