I mention this partly as info for others and partly out of frustration.
I mentioned in an earlier post that my Dremel died when I started a mod. Well, the problem turned out to be worn brushes. I replaced them and it works fine. So if your Dremel is acting up, check how long it's been since you last changed the brushes.
Now the mini-rant from frustration:
These brushes were barely worn - only about 1mm shorter than the new ones. Dremel recommends changing them every 60 hours or so. I don't know what makes then useless with so little wear, but my experience with brush-type motors in the past is that they can run well till the brushes are worn to bare metal! At $8 a pop, this gets under my skin - you get a decent tool, but the accessories are a constant drain on the wallet. Grump !
