Dreamcast Component Inputs

I recently blew the dust off my old dreamcast for some old school 2d fighting action.. Using nothing but a DELL 2405FPW for my viewing needs, so at the moment I'm playing with the default dreamcast AV cables, video lead going into composite input on the monitor, and thus no sound...

It's pretty fuzzy so I want to use component inputs, does anybody know about running the DC with component inputs? A quick search hasnt turned up much other than sega never made one for the DC, although it supports it.

Is it possible to buy these cables for the DC anywhere?

I'm going to state the obvious and tell you to look on Ebay. If you can't find them there, then they probably don't exist.

yeh thats all i could find, the euro scart one... was hoping someone here into DC would know if theyre around...

would it be possible to get the euro scart one, and buy some kind of scart to rca adapter?

This vga adapter has the RCA audio jacks:

I still game with mine and bring it to lans every now and then...

This was setup was so that I could play at lans when I while my pc leeched or got leeched from...love for VGA + DVI lcd monitors. :)

i have the same vga box. it's like the best one to get because of it's auto-detect/auto-switch and it also has rca/tv-out. i dont remember the exact brand of it tho, all i know is that it has 'Performance" logo on it with 2 checkered flags. also from what i've hear, it is very hard to come by because its the best and no one wants to sell (including me).

so with that vga box, i just buy component rca male to male plugs and away i go? same with sound? just stereo male to male rca plugs?

sounds perfect if so! can't wait to get rid of the fuzz on my 2D fighters

lol i took my dreamcast apart and lost some peices :( thats ok, a quick little run to replay(the local trade it in store)and i can pick up a used one with controller and cable for $15

its a shame how sony sabataged dreamcast with so much hype, think of how much more great it could have been in a bunch of differnt areas(except shooters)

sega made a lot of bad decisions over a lot of years, the stigma was already attached from the saturn, just poor timing alround... big shame, definitely one of my favourite consoles.. still king for 2D fighters if u ask me..

They ported Halflife to it and the controls & gameplay were fine. They ended up canceling the release because the DC didn't have the memory to hold maps/textures for reasonably sized areas (seemed like you had a "LOADING..." every 2-3min).

that is NOT why they cancelled it. they cancelled it because the Dreamcast was dying so they felt it made no sense to release it. I played through most of it and yeah they are load screens but lets not exaggerate!

dude in a couple differnt ways the dreamcast was more powerful then ps2

dreamcast woot! It makes me wish my tv had a vga input.. Soul Calibur still holds up to most new games IMHO.

I stupidly sold my dreamcast when chankast came out, it looked so promising and I was convinced within a few months it would be perfect. Of course within a few months the developers went on hiatus, leaving an incomplete product that can't play many titles acceptably ; ;

Got my two dreamcasts, and actually got both the VGA adapters, one's the white square the other is a blue pod looking thing. By far my fave console (thanks to DiscJuggler).

I'm under the assumption that the Dreamcast was cancelled due to the poor support it got in Europe and Japan...when the PS2 got reved up big time (the PS2 was the cheapest dvd player in japan when released) and Sega's mis-steps in the past put them way in the red that
Sega best route for financial success was to go multiplatform.

If the Dreamcast had a Final Fantasy game or something from Square/Enix then Sega would
probably be in competition with the Gamecube but its said that when Sega of America allocated a tiny amount of booth space for Square (at some convention), Square got iratte and since then stopped their support for Sega's hardware.

I wonder how its gonna look when I get a 2405 FPW...not every game is compatible with the VGA adapter but most are...and from the slim pickin's readily available it seems the OP wont have that problem if he does get it...

All I can tell you for sure is this:

Sony lied, Dreamcast died!
