Can someone help me figure out why my ASUS VG236h monitor can't display reds when connected to my macbook but looks fine when connected to my desktop? The only thing I can think of is the desktop is running via a DVI cable and the mac is connected via HDMI.

Here is a picture of the screen I took while running via PC:

And here is that same page coming from my macbook:

On Windows PCs, Nvidia's video card drivers do not support both 0-255 range and audio over HDMI if the driver thinks your monitor is an HDTV, and uses the 16-235 range instead. I think this is what that looks like. There are workarounds for Windows PCs, but I am totally unclear about how to fix this for Mac OS X, if that is the problem you are having.

This looks like 4:2:2 problem to me. Look for 4:4:4 RGB output options in Nvidia drivers.

There isn't an nvidia control panel on a macbook under osx like there is running windows. Any suggestions?

Sorry, don't know, other than switching the Mac to DVI.
