o ya its a winchester

(because of my room size and temp of my cpu i bake my bread straight on my computer desk, and thats enough for me seeing how i work in 100+ degree tank rooms at work. so trying to lower the temp in my room, cause 3 fans isnt helping

get fans in your case or water cooling?

That will keep his computer cooler, but not his room..

Anyway, yes, underclocking will help keep your computer a bit cooler. The real benefit, though, is being able to underclock your system and undervolt it. Go ahead and see what you can pull off. You should be able to pull it down as low as you want. I haven't tried any underclocking in a long time, but the last time I did it, I got my 1.2 Duron down to 500mhz (i forget the voltage) :)

Yes, underclocking does work quite well. I accidently underclocked my processor once (trying to overclock it) and I was like wtf why is it running so much cooler until I figured out what I had done. I believe www.tomshardware.com also has a guide. If its not there it was probably www.overclockers.com

AMAP without getting any errors. Test your cpu after every time you bump it down a notch.

yeah, i second the undervolt before you underclock. test it (if you do something important, use prime95) by doing your normal shit and see it if still works fine.

Cool and quiet is a built in feature with amd athlon 64 processors designed to underclock themselves.
