I have all my components but my CPU and Mobo. I am getting an Epox 9npa+sli mobo as soon as ZZF has them in stock, and an Opteron 146 cause apparently they're the absolute best for overclocking.
My question - CPU coolers. Zalman CNPS9500-Cu or Zalman CNPS7700-Cu? I am running a Zalman CNPS7000-Cu on my P4 2.8c and it runs absolutely brilliantly - 27-32C idle temps, and won't go above about 47 under even the heaviest load. I have heard about problems with the 9500 not cooling other chipsets like northbridge because of its vertical orientation, but I like that it has heatpipes and, well, it's a newer model. But newer isn't always better. Opinions from both sides? They both seem pretty solid and cool the CPU itself about the same, I'm just wary of the 9500. ZZF should have my board in by Monday or Tuesday so as the topic says - it's getting down to the wire. Any input whatsoever MUCH appreciated - even if you recommend a cooler or coolers that you like more than the Zalman ones such as the Ninja, Mine, Thermalright SI-120, or even something I've never heard of. And if any of these are suggested, I'd like suggestions on what fan to couple them with, and where to get them. I've heard great things about Panaflo fans, but can't find them anywhere. I want max air cooling - power consumption and noise aren't an issue.
I'm stuck on the newest Zalman VF900-Cu GPU cooler unless anyone else can suggest anything better.
Running a VF700-Cu on my eVGA 6800GT and couldn't be happier. But you guys know more than me so you may have a better solution for GPU cooling. Planning on the copper OCZ ramsinks and the Arctic Silver epoxy to stick'em on. The aluminum Zalman ones are pretty useless.
Can't wait to get my 2GB Corsair XMS DDR400 memory, XFX 7900GT overclocked to high heaven, badass overclocked Opteron, and amazing motherboard up and running!! *drooool*
One last, really doofy question. Assuming one of the coolers I have has a blue LED on it (I think one or two of the Zalmans do), is there a safe way to disconnect it or snip it off? I love the BRIGHT red fans in my case and don't wanna ruin that evil looking effect.
