I had a HDD go bad on my second i7 rig yesterday :(

I am going to try and look at it today, but with my traveling tomorrow and needing today to work to wrap up my other project, I won't have much time to really get into it.

I hope it is a lose cable or something easy. I don't want to have to find a spare drive and then do a complete install. Just don't have the time for it.

The rig produces 25 to 30K PpD so that is 25% of my total production :mad: :mad:

Because of the heat, I am having issues with my sig rig. The heat index has been 105+ every day for nearly a week. Trying to cool my office, but don't have the money to get an Window AC unit which I desperately want to do.
 
Well your heat issue just got a bit easier.... however I'm sure this was not the fix you wanted.

You don't run a WHS box? You would just be able to copy back up back to the new HDD that you install.
 
I actually just sold my Norco RPC-4020. Getting a WHS box up and running has always been on my list of things to do, but just haven't had the time to get to it. I'll build one when we get to the new house and I have some funds to do so.

The drive isn't that old. Don't think it is over 18 months old, but I am using the ASRock X58 board and am concerned the board has issues :(
 
Seems to be a MoBo issue. I was able to get the HDD to come up (pulled and checked it and it was fine), but now can't get past POST :mad:

This rig may be down for the count for a little bit. Getting a new MoBo and everything re-installed is going to happen very soon.

I have been thinking about putting an mATX build together for QuakeCon as I don't want to take my Sig Rig (kinda big). Problem is money and time (only 3 weeks).

I guess I am going to be down a rig for a few weeks :mad: :mad:
 
Thanks for the link. Although I've owned a few Asus Laptops, I've never actually owned an Asus MoBo before. I'll give it a peek as I try to figure out what to do. Very frustrating to say the least.
 
I have 2 of those ASRock boards. Both are going strong.

I do however think they are very sensitive to heat.
 
Im done wih ever buying a cheap board again. i killed of another msi sometime last night. there power curcuitry is just weak.it was the p55-gd65 this time. i might try gigabyte or stick with asus. yes i abuse my boards. ill just have to stick with boards that can take it.
 
Yeah, I think most of us abuse them :D

I will either go with an eVGA MoBo or an Asus MoBo. My eVGA (sig rig) has taken some significant abuse and has been rock solid stable for 18 months without a hiccup.

EVGA has the nice lifetime warranty too.
 
I've run Asus for the most part and have had excellent durability with them. I had a s775 Asus board burn out, but it made it for 2 years heavily overclocked. Can't beat that.
