If you don't buy a bottom on the barrel router it shouldn't effect your wired speed (unless you buy a 100mbps router versus a 1Gbps router , this will only matter for internal network transfers like from computer to computer). However getting the provisioned wired speed via wireless can be a whole different story.
In order to use both connections you would have to either buy a router that supports dual WAN's (not cheap) or two different routers for each connection. There isn't a real cheap solution to that problem.
