I really need to retube my setup. The stuff I have now has almost no sidewall and is all flattened out and overall crap (got it at work, it was free). I'm getting a new case so I'll finally be able to put everything inside.

First question is what fitting size to get for my DD Maze4 GPU block. Its the old style black one (not low profile). Whats the thread size for the block? I need to get a couple 90 degree replacements for the stock fittings so that everything will fit inside my case.

Here are the two options for tubing that I'm considering:

Tygon 1/2 (or 7/15) inner, 5/8 outer with Smartcoils

or

Tygon 1/2 inner 3/4 outer

What do you guys think would work best? If the 1/2"i 3/4"o would work that is probably the cheapest option. However, would I get much sharper bends with the 5/8"o and therefore eliminate a lot of length?
 
first, the good wuality TYGON 7/16 ID tubing would be all you need. not as thick and hard to work with as the 1/2" but still large enough to get you almost the exact same flow/ID/etc. and if its TYGON (most expensive) as opposed to masterkleer etc etc then you'll be fine. shit, i dont even have tygon.

as for fittings, thats the npt stuff in the maze block, i dont kno off the top of my head some 9/16 type shit but id wait forr someone who knows to come in and say orr i'll come back later with the info. oh and i still wouldnt suggest the 90 degree elbos to replace your current fittings, especially not on the maze block. maybe there IS a way to get it to all fit and maybe a pic of hte machien as it is now can help us figure it out. just sayin.
 
Older DangerDen products used 9/16-18 fittings.

A few observations:
-If a 90deg fitting makes your loop shorter and eliminates potential kinks, then by all means use one. I have slowly eased my ban on them in loops with no ill effects and much nicer tube runs.
-You might consider a move down to 3/8 tubing. Much less bulky and possible ( NOT easy, but possible) to fit over 1/2" barbs. Again, no noticable degradation in performance.

I must qualify both the above recommendations by admitting that I use only the crudest and least scientific methods of quantifying my PC's performance- MBM, Everest and "feel".
Since upgrading to my current x2 AMD I've discovered that upclocking it is basically pointless and stability and silence are more important to me now.
YMMV.
 
I actually would like to move to 3/8" tubing. It would be ideal for my setup because my stream splits at my CPU's into 2 1/4" streams and then rejoins after the blocks and goes to the vid card. The reasoning for wante 3/8 is that it is aproximatly the same cross sectional area as 2 1/4" tubes. There is also no way that my maze4 will fit without 90 deg fittings. I'm getting a new case and I hear it is really narrow. I can't even fit the side of my normal case on right now....so I don't think it'd work without them.

So how hard is it to get 3/8 tubing over 1/2 fittings?
 
Well...I wanted to order from Performance-Pcs.com because I'm getting some stuff already shipped from them and I wanted to tag the tubing onto the end of my order. They carry some Swiftech 7/16" PVC tubing. Is this similar (or maybe the same) as the masterkleer tubing? If not, I can order from somewhere else..I'd just rather not pay shipping twice if I can avoid it.
 
I ordered Clearflex60 1/2" from Performance-PCs, from what I have read, it's about the same as Tygon...

Not sure if they carry 7/16" Clearflex60 though.
 
Check McMaster-Carr and I would go to the hardware store and find out exactly what the fitting is. In the plumbing department they often have a sample set so you can match the fitting.
