The Pentium M is a great architecture, based on the older "P6" architecture. Which the Pentium Pro, Pentium II and Pentium III's where based on.

It's basically a Pentium III with Pentium 4 cache size and FSB with some other enhancements like better branch predictors and stuff. It's architecture is along the lines of AMD's. Short pipeline, great clock peformance scaleing.

DFI is prepareing to release a 533 FSB desktop Pentium M board, that might be worth looking into. They already have a 400 FSB board out, based on the 855GME chipset.
