I am looking to replace my rapidly aging Inspiron 7500, and I have been looking at the various laptop options. The Pentium M is a huge advance and I know that Dothan is coming in a couple of weeks. I am trying to decide between a desktop processor and waiting for Dothan to come out. So, I was wondering if anybody had any ideas as to how fast the Dothan processors will be relative to the Banais and Pentium 4 (800fsbs). I figure the additional meg of L2 cache will speed it up, I am just not sure how much. Any input will be greatly appreciated.

My understanding is that the upper-reaches of the current Pentium M chips are roughly equal to the top P4-M chips (2.8-3.0 GHz), so don't be surprised if a Dothan-generation Pentium M is even better. I know that the Pentium M is the only CPU I'd want in a laptop besides the G4 or G5.
