Ok well i just got doom3 looks great in high detail but my gpu 5700 ultra doesnt play well with it so im stuck on low with 800x600 reso and it still lags, i just ordered a gt by then will it play nicely?

Nope. Despite the fact that there are 1,500 post threads on this topic and 2 officially sanctioned articles on this web site. I'm right. Get a bitboyz card and keep posting asking if it will work.

Bah. Do a search, there is only about 100 threads that have answered this. Do some reading, the web is overflowing with Doom3 benchs. Use google.

Did you think your $400 card would be slow?

"Gee, I have a Honda Civic. Do you think the Ferrari I ordered will be any faster?"

Sorry, you're right. I need to take my nice pills....thinking happy thoughts.....
I miss the long winded technical discussions and the technical support type questions. :(

Doom 3 isn't worth a system upgrade imho. The game still looks great on a low end card and plays the same.

Your 5700 should be playing a lot better than 800x600 low quality. Even my NV28M plays decently at 800x600 medium quality.

There have been 3 threads here recently describing slow performance that was fixed by upgrading the video driver to 62.xx or 65.xx.

Do you have dual monitors? If so turn second one off. See my post in the official D3 sticky.
