note that the benchmark has changed 3 times, so you can't directly compare scores except:
65.62, 66.00 use the old version that ran through the level as fast as possible
65.76, 66.31 use the next version that ran through the level in a fixed amount of time
66.70, 66.81, 61.77 use the current version with at least one new shader

looks like ultra shadow is enabled in the drivers, and as Carmack said, it doesn't make much of a difference

3DMark05 default 1024x768 benchmark
66.70 5192 (GT1 23.2, GT2 15.2, GT3 25.4... CPU 4339: test 1 2.1, test 2 4.0)
66.81 5162 (GT1 22.6, GT2 15.3, GT3 25.5... CPU 4481: test 1 2.3, test 2 4.0)
61.77 4396 (GT1 19.2, GT2 13.1, GT3 21.6... CPU 4394: test 1 2.2, test 2 4.0)

One interesting thing is the higher than normal scores for 61.77 drivers (especially in 3DMark03, CS:S VST and Far Cry). I think that 66.70/66.81 drivers enable registry optimizations that are also available in 61.77 but not enabled by default. Since I didn't use driver cleaner before installing 61.77 (after I installed 66.70 and 66.81), it left those optimizations enabled.

I can also confirm that the 81s are slower in D3 than the 70s. Thanks for the heads up pxc.

So I'm taking away that the 66.70's are the best for ogl and it looks like the best for d3d right?

yeah, pretty much the best one overall.

I'm going to keep 66.81 to see how they are.

nice work here...

IMO the 66.70 have a lot going for them in my setup... Showing in the tests, they are the best in the resolutions and setups that I use. To me the 66.70s seem more smooth then the others, also I was seeing some artifacts with the 66.81s. Other people are reporting this as well...

Excelent work. I got one of these video cards a few days ago and I downloaded the latest drivers from nvidia's site. I am pretty sure they are the 61.77 still even though they are old. Well these numbers confirm that I need to go find and install the 66.70 or the 66.81.

Can't believe a great thread like this only got a handful of replies before dying.

Artifacts in 66.81? Hmm, any chance you could post some screens of them (or maybe describe them)? My shadows have been kinda messed up since I installed the 66.81s if that counts as artifacting

*edit* when I say messed up, I mean as in flickering and looking somewhat blocky. This doesn't happen in Doom3/3DMark01 or 03, but in Far Cry and 3DMark05 the shadows look really low res.

On my setup 66.70's gave me problems while overclocking in Doom 3 and in UT2004. After going to 66.81's the problems are gone.

66.30's seemed to run best though.
