A simple yes or no will suffice. Please refrain from the obvious spamming and flaming.

SIMPLE QUESTION.... SIMPLE ANSWER:

Does DOOM3 support a joystick?

Yeah, once it's released on Xbox :p

Heheh j/k. I will get off my ass in a few mins and go check for you. I know you can keybind, but I don't recall seeing any options for gamepad options. I'll go look in a few mins and post unless someone beats me to it.

i would really like to know this as well, as i have never used wasd keyboard for FPS. I use the CH pro Throttle for left hand, mouse for right. It simply blows the keyboard, nostromo, whatever out of the water. Used it for q2 (my first online game), q3, ut, ut2k3 and 4, tribes 1 and 2, mechwarrior series, and battlezone. there is no better. Of course, it helps tremendously if the game supports a joystick, which is essentially what the Pro throttle is...

I can't see it using a joystick, that's just too odd. A gamepad yes, although i'm not sure if the PC version supports it. Certainly the xbox does.

Even if you could, I doubt you'd want to. Its actually has mouse freelook, unlike the old doom engine :p

I don't recall seeing any joystick options. However if you do like playing with joysticks there is an arcade joystick game that looks like the old doom you can play inside of doom3 :p

Just jumping on this thread, since when I did my original search (doom3 and gamepad), I did not see this thread... So, has anyone confirmed that you can use a joystick/gamepad with Doom3???

Just did a search on activision's support page:

Platform: PC
Doom 3

Does this game support joysticks or game controllers?

Question
Does this game support joysticks or game controllers?

Answer
This game does not support joysticks or game controllers.

Guess that puts this question to rest.....

Hi everyone.
I too am one of the few people that use a joystick in the left hand and a mouse in the right hand for FPS games. IMHO, it's just a better, easier way to play FPS. No hand cramps from using the KeyB and movement is much more fluid.

I must say, I was highly disappointed to learn Doom 3 did not have joystick support.

There is a solution!!!

RBJoy!!
http://www.rbsoft.de/RB-Joy/rb-joy.html

Although, the latest version on the website does not work well with Doom 3, mouse completely shuts off, have to reboot PC. This is because the author of RBJoy switched to a direct input method in the latest version..

The older version, 5.4, does not use this method, and works perfectly with Doom 3.
I have verfied and played Doom 3 for hours with a joystick and mouse

Download RBJoy 5.4 here:
http://www.bellsouthpwp.net/b/l/blbadc/RBJOY54.ZIP

Unzip and double click RBJoy.exe to run, then load the D3.cfg file.
You can remap buttons at will.

Read the RBJOY4.CHM understand how to custom configure RBJoy to your liking.

Advice:
Ignore the A-X 25% & 50% sensitivity, and just use the "I" and set the sensivity to 20% for X and Y axises.

Enjoy joystick + mouse users!
:)

I finally got around to looking at RBJoy. Let me tell you, I am totally confused. Thanks for the help, but there is no way I will ever et it figured out.

I used to use a Gravis Blackhawk Joystick in my Quake 2 days but I went to keyboard/mouse and now Nostromo n52. The Blackhawk was a great joystick in it's day but the n52's the best controller I've used yet (even though it has it's minor problems too).
