pilotman2004 said:The steam seems to be rolling out of the vent, have you changed the blower fans to more powerful fans like you were planning?
It looks awesome either way!

lorcani said:I can't wait to see the red LED in the steam vent. That's going to look down-right demonic.
How are you making the steam? How hot is it when it comes out? It seems like a safety hazard, depending on how you make the steam.
Wow, thats pretty cool. Hmm... Theres no need for anything to be moving on my comp, but seeing that makes me want to find something that I can make move...mashie said:Unless the plan has changed recently this will be the solution.
pilotman2004 said:I used to be into RC airplanes, and I remember there was a company that made something that would slow a servo. It hooked up between the reciever and the servo. It was used for servos that would control landing gear, so that they would open slower and more realistically. If you could find one of those, you could use it in conjunction with the servo control board. That way you could control the speed that the airlock opens.
Haha, I figured as much.CrimsonSky said:Yes this has all been considered--ground that was covered long ago in the planning.
CrimsonSky said:I mocked up the steam vent with a couple of red LED's (6000MCD each) and shot some video--check it out (56k warning 1.9MB) wmv format.

CrimsonSky said:Yeah and the smoke should smell like burning monsters!..and-and-and-The red lights should come on only when you think about paper clips!...and and and!--
sheesh. people and their ideas sometimes.![]()

But which is worse- people and their good ideas or people and their bad ideas? (maybe I shouldn't ask that...)
mashie said:Do you think you could find that device again please? It would come in very handy indeed for some of my mods as well.
Edit: When I knew what to search for I found it instantly here.
Now if they could make a version that is slower than 2.2s end to end it would be even better. The search continues..
chrisf6969 said:yeah, we need a shot in dim lighting so you can see the fog glowing more.
Also, I'm starting to worry that by the time the case is finished, noone will be playing Doom3, and they will have moved on to Quake4!
Maybe you can get some early artwork for Quake 4 and start building it ready for a BTX computer in advance, so its ready for the game launch. All you do is put the latest components in last since those will change many times before the launch.

Hey mashie, I just had a thought. They sell servos specifically for landing gear of RC planes which take much longer to travel end to end than a normal servo, Like this. It turns 180 degrees, at 60 degrees in 0.5 seconds. So, thats 1.5 seconds already. If you hooked one of those up with the servo rate controller, wouldn't it take longer than 2.2?mashie said:Now if they could make a version that is slower than 2.2s end to end it would be even better.
