Bethesda has put out a new live-action cinematic trailer for DOOM called fight like hell. While cinematic trailers are cool and all, what I would really like to see is more in-depth campaign stuff, not just thirty second multiplayer trailers and cinematic stuff. I guess I'm still on the fence about this installment in the franchise.

Christ that was horrible. The music is straight out of a 90s screaming rage band that had me putting the video on mute and the cinema was atrocious.

Please God, whomever green lit this may they never do another video again.

Wait, weren't they going to change that bland cover art? They had a contest for it, didn't they?

Trailer sucks, but the game looks like it's worth playing.

I was all in based on the E3 demo, but all these silly MP trailers and this worthless live action have me wondering why they are hesitant to show SP in it's current state. So yeah, guess I'm back on the fence to.

I mean I'll have fun with Q3 with updated graphics for MP, but I'm not going to buy the game for that alone.

Nope I see nothing in common with Star Craft... good music though.

Too bad the in-game graphics can only be described as 'mediocre'. This trailer makes it look like a current-gen title.

Sad face.

With the focus being almost exclusively on multiplayer, I have a feeling that the single player campaign is in trouble. My fear is that it is going to be some half assed slapped together thing just to advertise a single player mode. I do not buy MMO games because a strong single player story is my interest.

Because "strong single player story" comes to mind when playing Doom.

Think about it. Doom became hugely popular in the early 90s. It wasn't so much because of the multiplayer (though that was cool), but because it was a great single player game. The shareware episode Knee Deep in the Dead was a masterpiece.

That quote may seem interesting, coming from a man who founded a company with his long-time D&D pals, himself playing Dungeon Master... aren't those games heavily story-based? I guess after a few attempts at story in a game (original Doom was to include a cinematic intro, Quake was to be an open-world RPG) he decided it was too time-consuming as they wanted to push technology at a faster pace.

Nowadays with graphics being pretty much at a stand-still, and gameplay having seemingly little room for improvement (VR not included), emphasis on an interesting story and characters makes sense to try and set yourself out from the crowd.

Exactly. It was actually I believe Halo that really started making FPS games based on a strong story. However, even games like Doom 2 and Doom 3 had a relevant story that made sense. It was coherent and the campaign was put together well without having a slapped together feeling.

Doom wasn't know for it's story, but it sure as shit was known for it's single player campaign. Speaking as someone who played a whole lot of MP Doom.

Refused is pretty awesome.

If they're not your thing, that is more just preference.

As for the game....looks boring. I liked how Doom 3 kinda took a turn for being scary. This just looks like Duke Nukem in hell.

nope, hardcore music is 100% bad :D for DOOM, metal is much more apropos

watching this again makes me wish theyd make another movie...
