Doom crashes w 9600 xt

hi,
i'm about to build a new system, bought powercolor 9600xt bravo today, tried it in a 2,4 ghz 512 mb(400mhz) asusp4p800 mobo of a friend of mine

i didn't uninstall existing nvidia drivers for ti4200
after plugging in, just installed catalyst 3.x drivers bundled with box
nfs underg. was of course fine, but doom 3 crashes within a minute of normal gameplay and timedemo test. (in timedemo it restarted the pc)

are there any common problem with this card, or mine may have problems? or is it just a driver issue? still it's bizarre if an outdated driver causes a restart of a finely built system

Thats your problem right there.....
 
i agree...you need to uninstall the nvidia drivers and then boot into safe mode and run driver cleaner to get rid of any traces of the nvidia drivers and then boot into normal windows and install the cats or the radeon and then see how it works. you shouldnt have any problems if you install the drivers correctly.
 
I have kinda the same problem.

Except I never had an NVidia card.

I am running:

P4 2.4B
1GB Corsair in Dual Channel
Gigabyte SINXP1394
Radeon 9600 Pro

I just downloaded the Doom3 Demo to goof around with and whenever I try to open the door to the maintenance tunnel the game crashes.

I am going to start working on this later to see whats wrong, but I will keep an eye on this thread too.
