Okay. That was a noob question. I thought I had run it twice in a row. Guess not though, because I just ran it twice without doing anything in between and you're right, the hitching went away.

Thanks.

Oh, and my fps went up to 64.

1920 X 1200 on a Sony SDM-P232W/B 23" LCD using a XFX 6800 Ultra:

High Quality at 2X AA:

1st pass 39.3
2nd pass 44.1

Looks incredible and plays great.

Specs here.

As for the pauses and slowdowns, it looks like the game is loading off the hard drive in the first run of the timedemo. Subsequent runs will already have it stored in memory so it doesn't have to load off the hard drive. I find it strange they didn't just load it all in memory to begin with unless the memory usuage is so high that they have to stream off the hard drive instead.

It's very misleading on the first run.

Specs on Home PC (new!) in sig. <3 for newegg

OMG I feel like such a big noob , I forgot doom3 was opengl and I left 2xaa and 2xaf on in the control panel lol. *bashes head against wall for being so stupid*
Edit: ran timedemo w/out aa/af and scored 41.6fps

When you guys say in the Control Panel, do you mean Windows control Panel or the Graphics card control panel...

Also, I tried enabling and disabling Hyperthrheading...Nothing....I tried the Cache memroy in crease...No difference....I triedsetting AGP aperture in Sys Bios too 256.....nada...All drivers aere updated,

Im running P4 3.2 Ghz
1 GB ram
Geforce 5950
SoundBlaster Audigy 2z
Abit IC7 max3 Mobo

on high quality, no AA, all effects on, 1024x768, 20-30 FPS...If all you guys scores are correct, this IS NOT right...

PS,I am actually playing the game with the FPS displayed, im not running time demo or anything...any help/advice please

I just installed coolbits and rivatuner and got my card to do 450/1.2 (6800ultra)
And my timedemo for 16x12 high with 4XAA went up from 35.Xfps to 48.Xfps

:( i got impatient waiting for Doom3 in the mail (EBGames preorder), so I picked it up this morning at Fry's. Where else sells Doom3 at 8am for $43.99? :p

Benchmarks coming soon on my laptop GF 4200 Go (NV28M) and desktop!

edit: or maybe not. gg id! the copy protection isn't working on my laptop DVD-ROM drive when I go to play the game.

edit2: it worked after 10 tries. oh boy!

laptop GF4 4200 Go 64MB @ 220/470, 61.45, restarted between each res/quality test
640x480 LQ: 32.4fps (ouch)
640x480 MQ: 32.4fps
640x480 HQ: 22.1fps
800x600 LQ: 32.4fps
800x600 MQ: 27.5fps
800x600 HQ: 14.8fps
1024x768 LQ: 20.1fps

I guess a P4-M 2.4GHz is just too slow. It's still playable at 800x600 MQ anyways.

I got 34.5 fps on my rig:

512 meg corsair xms pc3200
Radeon 9500pro @ 350/300

everything is air cooled but I had to take the side of my case off. What is a good cooling option for my radeon?

1600x1200 ultra quality 2xaa 8xaf = 57.3 fps

cpu isnt the greatist 2.4c @ 2.9
