How to solve problem with sound fall in Doom 3??? Sound returns back after restarting game or command "vid_restart" in console????

Configuration of computer:

ATHLON 2500 XP+, EPOX 8RDA(without pluses and etc.)-NFORCE 2, with built-in sound, adding to this I have AUDIGY 2, but this sound card, how i understood, doom 3 doesn't uses!! videocard: Radeon 9800 pro 128 mb, .. 1 GB RAM, and I have 6 speakers from Creative.

Option Surround Speakers is on, if this option is off - doom 3 goes without problems
In control panel settings are: 5.1 speakers, tested on other settings - effect is the same, sound crash.
Please help me, i want to play doom 3 with good sound, without problems, i want enjoy this game:(

Sorry for my bad english, i from Belarus:)

I'm pretty sure it has something to do with the nVidia Soundstorm on the nForce boards... Mine gets real staticy and sometimes it completely goes away. Happens in both Doom 3 and Farcry using an Abit NF7-S v2

It doesn't have to do with soundstorm. Doom 3 uses the CPU to process audio, not the APU.

EVERYONE has this problem. There are 3 fixes:

a) Turn off surround in the doom settings

b) Turn audio acceleration down to Basic in windows

c) When it fucks up, type s_restart in the console to restart the sound engine. It might be easier to type "bind x s_restart" where x is whatever key you want. Then you can just hit that.

Understandable with Doom 3, but it doesn't answer as to why Farcry be causing the same thing to happen. I've installed all the newest drivers and everything... :(

Oh, and turning surround off in Doom 3 is not an option... They've touted the sound engine in the game and it should work. Sound in Doom 3 is awesome and I'm not going to play in stereo...

Fuck you, Karmak!
Why doesn't you like Audigy 2 with EAX?:(
In Far Cry i haven't any problems, BECAUSE FAR CRY SUPPORTS MY SOUND BLASTER!
Karmak with his ambitions sent to ass all owners of Audigy 2:(
BLA! BLA! BLA! To wait patch ???????

i knew there had to be a console command for that, thanks

Yes, much thanks for the console command! That sure beats having to exit the game and restart...
