Doom 3 Early Release??

I just called the gamestop I preordered from...they said they expect a limited number on monday evening and the full shipment tuesday morning...
 
Man I wish I had ordered from Gamestop instead of EB. EB still says they don't expect them until Wednesday :(
 
They probably want to stay ahead of the warez groups. If the games are already at the stores, you can bet someone will take a copy, rip it, and post it. If they make the game available for sale as soon as it shows up, that should cut down on the amount of people who download it.

It won't stop the people who never pay for games, but many people just want it as soon as possible, and they won't be able to resist the urge to download the game if it shows up online before they can buy it in the store.
 
Id Software states "Retailers in the States will be allowed to pick up games starting at 12:01 AM on August 3rd".

If the official ID Software release date for Doom3 is Aug 3, can retailers like GameStop start handing out copies of Doom3 prior to this date without violating some policy/agreement with ID Software?
 
Yes they would be violating agreements, but it could still happen...what is id going to do about it? Take it away from them and not let them sell it... :eek:

This is especially possible if all the retailers start to do it out of a dominoe affect.

I just called ebgames.com and tried to get my shipping upgraded. The girl said she couldn't change my order because it was in packing already.

Not that it necessarily means they are shipping yet, but I'm going to hate waiting a whole week for delivery. :mad: Hopefully it ships ASAP (early).
 
Sorry to hear that pxc. I am picking mine up at the store, so I know it will be at least the 4th before I get it :(
 
My EB games in Canada says they're expecting full shipment Tuesday morning available for pick up in the afternoon, but this is Canada and I don't have access to gamestop

Very true, but not likely if everyone does it at the same time....sort of like it was a conspiracy all along by retailers :D
 
I have it on preorder at EB but if I see it on usenet I'll probably download it just out of sheer eagerness. I sooooo can't wait to get this! I'll have a weeks wait from EB and by the time we get it at the base store it'll be like 3 months after release. I do buy the good games.

I preordered both Doom 3 and Half-Life 2 from amazon - overnight shipping on both - Now I just sit back and wait....
 
i saw a thread about this in either hotdeals or gaming.. i think it turns out that it was a shipping date error.

Wally World has never been too bothered about minor details such as release dates...especially the 24 hour stores that start restocking in the evening. ;)
 
I just called my local EB Store where my shipment is going. They told me that I can pick my copy up on Monday 8/1 at 7pm.. 5 hours before Gamestop locations.

This is official through EB.

Have fun.
 
im glad i did the pre-order in store, which means ill be getting it before the online people since i dont have to wait for it to be shipped.
 
Yep.. i just shoved it in a coworkers face who was bragging yesterday he would get his shipment sent to house before I'd get off work on 8/4 to drive to pick mine up.

Now.. Ill be playing mine Monday night!
 
i don't know about you guys, but i'm going to best buy in plano, texas at about 10pm to get in line and get my copy at 12:01am tuesday, august 3rd.
 
eb's date is the first? WOOHOO wait monday is the second....but still WOOHOO
mah GT is comin on monday too...talk about good timing! :D
