Don't Ebay for 2405FPW

At this point in my computer build process, a monitor is all I need now. And I am tired of waiting for a Dell deal, and was disheartend to hear that Dell is *expecting* people to stay home and shop online, versus going out to a retail store to shop. Therefore, more demand, higher prices, or at least in dell's case,.................. no coupons :(

I'll be emailing them, bitching about various things and saying the price of the monitor is too much, and saying coming labor day weekend I will be running out to Staples to buy a monitor, because they are running a sale.

Lets wait and see

I want this monitor under 800 baby!
 
I just got the Dell email, and they are doing a 15% off on the 2405fpw. If you can find a 25% off coupon that works with that deal you can get it down to 764 which is really good. I tried searching for one of those 25% off coupons that people talk about but the ones I found were all expired. Bummer. Good luck hunting!
 
shoot I was nice and sold mine for about 800 with shipping. I would never scam anyone. there are honest people out there but ur right, be careful.

Quit whining - why do you care if they charge $100 for shipping? If they didn't overcharge for shipping, the item would be priced even higher, probably $120 or so, because they'd have to pay fees on on that money.

I ebayed my 2405, mind you the seller had 11000+ feedback selling computer gear including 100 or dell 2405's.
 
Here is a tip:

If you want to stack coupons at Dell... this is what you do.

Say you have 2 coupons - one for 15% off and another for 25% off a 2405 but they dont allow you to use both and the rep on the phone doesnt budge.

Do this:
- Use the 25% first.
- Later that night, you talk to the people via that "chat" service they use (its actually quick emails between you and a rep) and tell them that you tried to use a 15% coupon but you think the phone rep put in the wrong number and that you just checked it and it works. They will have you cancel the order, redo it but unknowingly stack the 15% coupon on your initial order's price (which already included the 25% coupon).

Something to think about.. although I know it's a bit devious and underhanded.

It costs at tops about 50.00 to ship a monitor that weighs 22.5 pounds, I paid 30.00 to ship a subwoofer that weighed 32lbs. Most of us aren't rich either dude..

If they lowered the shipping fee, they would just raise the price of the item, probably more than they lowered the shipping because they would have eBay fees taken out of the item price, but not the shipping price.
So you would be paying the same, if not more.
Just compare the TOTAL price of several sellers if you want to find the best deal - not hard.

All I'm saying is just include shipping costs when comparing sellers, so you know the total price.

QFT...why complain about eBay shipping gouging. Fatwallet, Slickdeals, Bens, there're always threads about the morality of eBay shipping and insurance fees. If you don't like it, don't buy it. If you can't figure out a toal price from Dell after tax and a total price from eBay shipped and make a valid comparison, then there is something wrong.

Take eBay for what it is...as long as eBay (with PayPal) take ~7% off your final sale price and offer crappy customer service in return, there will always be people trying to circumvent the system. C'est la vie.
 
I know I got a good deal, off ebay my 2405 cost only slightly more than the new 20" plus I got it immediantly without the 30 day wait time, I also got the 3 year BOS warranty. My ebay guy (qprfootballclub) was buying in lots of 60.
 
Just because eBay's price is lower than Dell's doesn't mean that you can't find legitimate deals on eBay. I got my 2405 from Dell for $520 + tax, so there are probably some people on eBay selling them for less than $800 who are legit.

Well... why dont you share your secret? It's been asked several times and you never told.

I got mine for $650 and I posted a thread on how to do it, and people did get it for close to my price until the offers ended.

I see you posting that you got yours for cheap, but you never offer to help people... atleast that's how it seems to me. If you did spill the beans and I didnt catch it, sorry in advance.

But I say, if you're willing to post how much you got it for and if it's significantly less than what most people get it for, it would be a nice gesture if you helped the rest of your forum buddies out.

I see this a lot over on the deals forums where people talk about it and include things like gift certificates (or in this case concession coupons) etc. That can lower the price, but you have to have the concession coupons first for example.
