Dominators interfering with HSF?

i saw this in gen hard and it scared me.

Anyway, that dominator will block the HSF because it is too tall. You may not be able to fit a HSF with the Dominator RAM in place. Or the Dominator RAM might actually block air from reach the HSF.

i'm getting the E8400 and was planning to do some OC'ing with the G.Skill DDR2 1000. at newegg you can get the 1066 Dominators, after all is said and done, for only 10 bucks more than the DDR2 1000's shipped.

should i avoid these now? i can picture the fan on the Xigmatec cooler not getting along with the dominator's fan. i've heard they get pretty hot but how bad for OC'ing would it be to not install their fan?

EDIT: that is a close fit.

he's using a thermalright ultra 120 hsf on an x38 board.

Not sure how helpful this will be, but I'm on an X48 (ASUS) and have that AirFlow RAM cooler. So far (just built the system) I like it. For my CPU (quad core), I'm using the Arctic Cooler Freezer 7 Pro, which looks a bit smaller than the CPU fan/hs pictured, but not by that much - width looks roughly the same, just taller. I have slightly more space between my AirFlow and cooler, but not by a lot, and cooling still seems to be pretty good to me. (The fan on the Freezer 7 Pro is pulling air through the heatsink and then out the back of the case.)

Also, it should be noted if you haven't seen the AirFlow, the mounting is somewhat flexible. It covers 3 DIMM slots and can be slid to cover whichever three you want. For my board, ASUS recommends you use slot 2 and 4 for dual channel memory anyways, so that gives me a bit more space too as the slot nearest the CPU is empty and I can have the AirFlow over covering the last three.

Hope this helps.

Just in case see if you can use the 2&4 slots.
See if you notice a performance hit while using SIS.
If you don't then 2&4 slots should provide a bit more breathing room.
