Domain Controller cannot install update

Hey all,

for some reason my Domain controller (server 2008r2) is struggling with an update today!

For about 2 hours now it's been hanging on installing update 4 of 10 while my other servers (same OS running exchange, file server and backup server) all installed their updates fine!

Any thoughts or anything I can do?

I tried to stop it but the stop installation button does not respond.

Thanks.

I would start by checking event logs and firing up ProcMon to see what it's doing.

If you can get it to stop, download the update manually and try to install it. You might see an error message that is being hidden.

Start/stop the Windows Update service. Then try again.
If it still freaks out, download the update manually from MS, install, restart your windows update service, then try again.

Thanks for the feedback boys.

in the end I forced a reboot of the server and once it was back up I checked for updates again.

It had installed the 1st 3 but failed the rest.

So I kicked them off again and it's reporting that all is well.

Thanks:)
