So I upgraded my main rig to Vista the other day (yay unsigned driver hell), and instead of setting updates to ask me to dl&install like I thought I had set it to, it was set to automatically install them every day in the evening for whatever reason. So roughly half of my productions been offline since sometime after I left home last night to go tailgate/go to a football game today. Hopefully thats the dmumbest thing I do all week :)

Hey thanks Vediovus, thanks for the heads up about Vista, that scenario never crossed my mind :D ATM I don't have Vista, but I've been planning on getting it since they came out with the SP1. I use WinXP ATM and my updates are checked to notify me if a update is available, but don't download it. If you set it for automatic in WinXP does it also reboot the boxen (unlike Linux it seems like every time you burp around a Windose boxen you have to reboot it)

I have fubard my farm worse than that.

Try having 25k ppd crash hours after leaving for an eight day vacation.

Or being forced to shuffle the farm (and order a new mobo in the process) because you forgot that the boxens have just 1 PCI-E slot instead of 2 I needed to run 2xGPU. Everyone have their own dumb moment, me included ;)

ARRRGGGGHHHHH I forgot to set RivaTuner to auto save/restart. No wonder my points were down more than I could account for. On wo boxen no less.:eek:

I've found that RivaTuner does not always start the fans back up to 100%.
So last time I restarted all the boxen, I forgot to check one card.
That client keeped on crashing even once I reset the clocks back to stock.
7 days later I finally rechecked the card fan speed and bingo.
Its now overclocked and stable again.

I've found that RivaTuner only resets 1 card, all the other I need to re-overclock by hand.

Luck ............. :D

Hey Tigerbiten, I've also noticed sometimes the fan or the shader OC's don't go back to what they're been set to originally in Riva Tuner (I only set my fans at 80% to 90%)

What I was wondering (please anyone "jump in") is, on the boxen that I have a PNY 8800gt w/512 MB in the ppd goes from about 5500 ppd to under 2500 ppd when I "surf" or otherwise use the machine. In another almost identical boxen I have a Newegg special EVGA 8800gs w/384 MB and my ppd remains pretty constant (like 4500 to 4600 ppd) "surfing the Net" or otherwise using the boxen (I don't game) Is this normal, do I have a bad card (8800gt), is something wrong with my Riva Tuner install or am I coming unglued for nothing

Both boxen are Q6600's, mildly OC'ed 3.0 Ghz (9x333), 2 GB's PC6400 RAM and both boxen use the CPU's for the WCG program and the the GPU's use the GPU2 client. (they're also both WC'ed and have 120mm fans blowing directly on the cards) The shaders on the 8800gt are OC'ed to 1809 and the shaders for the 8800gs are OC'ed to 1788.

Thanks for any reply
