Does xp sp2 include the fixes from sp1.

Whenever you see a service pack, always get the latest one, all the other million updates will dissapear besides a few that probably came out recently. Thats one of the reasons MS comes out with them, better for the 56k'ers

So you can load SP2 on a fresh install without loading SP1? I always thought you needed the last service pack to install the newest.

the service packs have cummulative fixes. windows 2000 sp4 has all the fixes from sp1-3 in it also, its one of the reasons why service packs get larger every time they are released.

SPs don't always get bigger, SP 1-3 for Win2k varied by only a few MB at best.

SP2 for Windows XP is so large because it basically contains a full windows installation. Microsoft's release notes say everything was recompiled with a new version of their compiler, thus they had to include every file. This the first SP in which this has ever been done. (they recompiled everything in a attempt to prevent buffer overrun attacks)
