I cannot find a good answer to this.

Does Windows XP support HDCP content if the video card is capable? Some say only Vista and above support it, some some XP supports it. Which is it??
 
hdcp does not require o/s support. As long as you have a software player (powerdvd) a hdcp gpu and a hdcp monitor hooked up over a digital input you are fine.

if you do not have an hdcp monitor I would try anydvd hd by slysoft. It is the "stripper" you were referring to. However this is not required to be used on xp, nor is it a product of using vista without a hdcp monitor
 
XP indeed does. Kuurus you also need to have an HDCP graphics card and graphics drivers.
