Does Windows track file copy operations?

In a stock Windows 7 or 8 installation, if someone copies a file to a USB memory stick is that tracked or logged internally in some secret part of Windows not many people know about? I realize if a file was copied with the Windows File Explorer it might log the path/file as a MRU item somewhere, and if so does anyone know where in the registry that is kept? Is there any other logging?

If Windows tracked every such operation the log files would grow to be larger than Windows itself in short order so, no, it doesn't track such operations as part of the operation of the OS. There might be some auditing software available that would do such a thing, basically a system event logger that literally records everything that goes on like a keystroke type recorder but for copy operations, I have no idea if such a thing exists but in today's world of monitoring it wouldn't surprise me in the least if someone is making a buck off such a thing.
