what is the "idea" people have been putting heatsinks all over their motherboards, video cards, ram, and just about everything else for a long time. they will help transfer heat off of the component faster than not having them. i have similar, but lower profile , heatsinks like that on the ram on my video card, and it keeps it a little cooler in my shutlle.
 
i think so, your better off cutting up some old heatsinks and just getting some thermal tape and DIY
 
I've been thinking about doing this also for my Abit IC7 Max3 I am building. However, I don't have any spare heatsinks laying around. Are there any better deals elsewhere? I'm searching as I post this.
 
I find that a quick trip to a dumpster behind any electronics place will yield a ton of good little heatsinks...you just need to rip aprt what you find and pull them out...

my k8n neo came w/ some(not the same design) on the mosfets. and the kv8 came w/ a dedicated fan to cool them

also, my 9800 np came w/ some (same design) on the voltage regulater
