Does this Motherboard support this Processor fully (E6750)?

Hi,

I've been reading the description of my motherboard on ASUS's website before I purchase a new CPU, as seen here:

http://www.asus.com/products.aspx?l1=3&l2=11&l3=307&model=1178&modelmenu=1

I'm just a little confused as to whether this motherboard (P5B) will support the 1333mhz FSB of the new E6750. The information on ASUS's page mentions that it supports up to 1066mhz FSB only in one sentence and then mentions in another that:

"It also can support Intel® next generation 45nm Multi-Core CPU. With new Intel® Core™ microarchitecture technology and 1333 / 1066 / 800 MHz FSB, Intel® Core™2 processor is one of the most powerful and energy efficient CPU in the world."

So does this mean that the card can or cannot support up to the 1333 MHz FSB? Any comments on this would be greatly helpful. Thanks.

Not it will not support the E6XXX series, they run @ 1333 fsb and the fastest fsb that board can handle is 1066. You are getting confused because there are core 2 duo's that run slower than 1066mhz.

If you are looking for a reasonably priced board that will handle those series cpu's check these out,

GL!

why would you spend more than you had too for an inferior board that required a pita bios update?

it should work 100% fine, IMO you should spend another ~$30 and get the P5K. Up to you though.

I've been reading the description of my motherboard on ASUS's website before I purchase a new CPU, as seen here.

Today's lesson is... paying attention.

And if updating a bios is a pita maybe you should stay out of the [h] forums and go to the nickelodeon forums.

Thanks for the comments everyone, and yes, I already have the motherboard in my possession - I am not planning on purchasing a new one (at least not anytime soon). Thank you for all your help. I'll upgrade the BIOS accordingly to unleash the maximum potential of this CPU.

hey forcefed how about you get off the cross, someone else needs the wood. Yes I did misread the op as to the fact that he already owned the board so my bad here. As for updating the bios if one had the choice of getting a board that ran what he wanted without having to update the bios vs. buying one that he had to it would seem logical to get one that supported it out of the box. As for the nickelodeon forums I hold my own here just fine asshat.
