Does this LCD monitor exist under $2k?

1. 25.5" or larger
2. IPS panel
3. External Power Supply/Power Brick (so no annoying buzzing/high pitched noise).
4. (not a deal breaker) height adjustable.
5. (also not a deal breaker) HDCP compliant

I have a NEC LCD 2690wuxi which has all but #3 (and is a noisy sucker) and I've been testing out an Apple Cinema 23" which is as quiet as you can ask a big LCD to be, but it lacks everything the NEC has asside from noise. In other words, it's worthless to me asside from the peace. Now the 30" apple simply isn't worth it to me since it lacks pretty much any redeeming features in its price range aside from an external power supply. If it fulfilled #1-5 I certainly would buy it.

Now the Dell 3008wfp sounds like the ultimate monitor I would want, but it's also got an internal power supply--and I hear it buzzes quite a bit too.

A note I would like to add--I'm fairly certain I don't have a defective LCD, the noise level does not change with brightness or sound horrdenously loud like some of those youtube videos. I have a silent PC and a well dampened room, and the NEC monitor is the loudest component in the room.

Now if someone knows a DIY method to quieting down a power transformer in an LCD monitor, I'm all ears.

I think the new Planar or Doublesight monitor touch many of those requirements. I am pretty sure one of those monitors has a power brick, forget which one

Doublesight: HDCP, but no HDMI I think...Also looks like it has a power brick

Planar: No Power Brick

DoubleSight DS-265W is the one that looks like it has all your requirements (from the limited number of monitors i know of)

3, not that I know of - but it's not something I look for since I tend to lose those. The others, there are a number of options.

WOW!

I'm still trying to review the specs but are you serious! How does this thing cost $750? I spent $1.3k on the NEC and the Apple was $900 (still under return policy period). I mean there's GOT to be something wrong with it, LOL, this thing looks like it blows both of them away for far less money.

Sorry if I'm throwing so much at you, but does this Doublesight have a glossy screen layer like Apple Cinema Displays? It's almost like an oxymoron with the glossy screen it reduces the advantages of IPS.

I guess the REAL question is, is Doublesight getting the B-panels? Because the NEC and ACD I have both have ZERO dead pixels.

Probably better to post those questions in that thread... there seem to be two issues right now: Availability and confusion of why the picked integrated speakers instead of an HDMI port (they include DVI to HDMI cable though)... If you're really interested, you'll probably find yourself reading the entire thread... overall, i believe it's a very solid monitor. You should check their warranty and return policies as well

Looks like only newegg has the monitor. And uh...newegg has a no return policy on LCD monitors. Could it be Doublesight is just trying to get rid of duds? Kind of suspicious the etailer with the worst return policy possible has the item first.

Based on what I've been able to read, in order to reduce or eliminate the humming noise, you need to use 120V instead of 220V. Unless you already are, which in that case I don't know what advice to give.

I'm in the US so our power grid is under 120V, unless I'm missing something here.

30in. Apple Cinema Display...$2000 for an external power brick? ARGH. No height adjustment, no HDCP compliance, older IPS panel...I'd probably be better off getting 2 doublesights and hoping one of them works...

God damn newegg.
