Does this mean my CPU is messed up...?

I had some problems with WoW recently (corrupt files all over the place, reinstalled, did repair thing, patches said they were corrupt even though myself and others have used them in the past).

Anyway, I just downloed Prime95 again and I started up two copies (using the command line -a1 on the second copy). Here is what happens (error, tried running the test again and the same error on both).

I'd check a couple of things before assuming your CPU is bad.

Verify that you have proper cooling, and make sure the memory is up to par. Use something like memtest86+ or something similar.

According to core temp, my CPU is at 38C on one core and 40c on another core while I'm doing yet ANOTHER fresh install of WoW. I completely forgot about memtest, been so long since I've had to do any testing >_<

/sigh I really hope it's memory and not CPU, been wanting to upgrade to 4GB anyway. Is there any possibility this could be HDD related? I'd hate to lose my 500GBs of data ;_;

Ok, so yea. Good call on memtest, as soon as it started errors were popping up all over the place. One of my RAM sticks was bad!

I guess I'm just gonn have to upgrade...

atleast ddr2 is dirt cheap ^_^

Yeah, I would check the memory first with memtest and then go from there.

Both sticks are now dead. I kept getting C1 error on my mobo after a while, sure enough, both are now dead. Putting in my friends sticks made it work perfectly. So hopefully new RAM will be in by Friday, I can't stand playing WoW on my laptop lol.
